Russian media: Russian diplomats warn that if US satellites are used in Russia-Ukraine conflict, they may become legitimate targets

[Report] According to the TASS news agency on the 27th, Konstantin Vorontsov, deputy director of the non-proliferation and arms control department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said at a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly that if a US commercial satellite is used in the Ukraine conflict, the satellite may be used. It will be regarded as a legitimate target of Russian strikes.

According to the TASS news agency, Vorontsov emphasized: “I would like to draw attention to the extremely dangerous trends that have emerged in the course of developments in Ukraine. I am referring to the use of civilian infrastructure in outer space by the United States and its allies in conflicts, including commercial facilities.”

Vorontsov warned: “Quasi-civilian infrastructure may be a legitimate target of retaliatory strikes. The actions of the West unjustifiably endanger the stability of civilian space activities and the socio-economic development processes in many regions that determine people’s well-being, especially development the well-being of the Chinese nation.”

Comprehensive foreign media previously reported that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently tweeted that SpaceX cannot continue to pay for the operation of the “Starlink” project in Ukraine. He also said that the “Starlink” system has become a key channel for the Ukrainian government and military to maintain communication, and Russia is trying to disable the system. However, according to Reuters, Musk changed his attitude on the 16th, saying that SpaceX will continue to provide services for the “Starlink” project in Ukraine.
