How to Open a Terminal Window in an Ubuntu System
In Ubuntu (Ubuntu), the quickest way to open the Terminal application is with a keyboard shortcut. You can also search for Terminal applications using the “Dash” home button, or add shortcuts to programs to the launcher sidebar. In older versions of Ubuntu, you can find the “Terminal” program in the Applications folder.

Method 1
Use keyboard shortcuts
1 Press .Ctrl+Alt+T simultaneously. This will open the Terminal application. X Research Source
2 Press the .Alt+F2 key combination simultaneously and enter gnome-terminal. This will also open the terminal program.
3 Press the .Win+T key combination at the same time (only for Xubuntu system). This specific set of shortcut keys launches the Xubuntu system’s terminal program. X Research Source
4 Set custom shortcut buttons. You can change the Ctrl+Alt+T shortcut button to another button: Click the “System Settings” button in the launch bar. Click the “Keyboard” option in the “Hardware” section. Click the “Shortcuts” tab. Click the “Launch” option, then check and highlight “Launch Terminal”. Press the new shortcut button you set.

Using the “Dash” home button
1 Click the Home button, or press the .Win key. The home button is located in the upper left corner of the screen with the logo of Ubuntu. If you set a new super key to replace the Win key, press the new super key.

1 Click the Home button. It’s in the launch bar, and the icon is a trademark of Ubuntu.
2 Enter terminal to search for programs.
3 Drag the Terminal icon from the search results to the launcher sidebar.
4 Click the icon of the new terminal program to open it.
Method 4
In Ubuntu 10.04 and earlier systems
1 Click the Application button. It’s in the launch bar of older Ubuntu systems.
2 Click Assist. In Xubuntu system, click the “System” button.
3 Click Terminal.
